    Yes, the food safety license is location specific you need to apply separate license for each location even if it is in a the same business name. And each location documents for each location should be submitted separately and fees should be paid separately for each food safety registration application.

    Food safety registration should be renewed each year before expiry, it is recommended to renew food safety registration before expiry to avoid late fees and other charges which could be avoided. And the application for renewal is to be applied 30 days prior to the expiry of license failure to which a penalty of Rs.100 per day will be applicable and an officer cannot issue fssai renewal order after the expiry of 30 days from the date of expiry of a registration certificate.

    Yes, mentioning the fssai number in packages is compulsory in contrast with the background colour used in the label as per food safety act regulations. It is a one-way indication to a consumer regarding the food is safe for human consumption. And fssai registered food business operator had to comply with some of the rules and responsibilities relating to the operation of a food business subject to which a license is issued. Only the state license holders or central license holders can print the license numbers in packages, holders of basic registration cannot print on packages.

    The food safety central license is applicable for import and export, a business having operations in more than one state, and a business crossing a certain turnover limit is required to apply central license for food safety. Where business is carried in more than one state, central license for the registered business address and a state license for each business location are mandatory.

    FSSAI basic registration is applicable for food business operators having less than 12 lakhs of turnover per year once the turnover of Rs.12,00,000 is crossed they need to apply for a food safety state license or central license as the case may be. For export and import, it is compulsory to apply for a central license irrespective of turnover. FSSAI registration is mostly suitable for small hotels and restaurants that need basic fssai registration to be displayed on their premises.

    FSSAI-Food Safety and standards authority of India is in the process of implementing guidelines for organic food business operators and had issued a public notice inviting suggestions on 04 to Jan 2018 with draft rules requiring registration of food business operator.
